The story of Websters started with Rodney Webster, a farmer from Stratford. In 1975, after selling the farm, Rod's enterprising spirit and the responsibility of putting food on the table for his family, gave him the idea of buying a small plot of land in Wood Street where he could start a business selling carpet. A salesman at heart, Rod became the origin of a little Australian family business.
After two years, in 1977, Rod got the idea to sell furniture alongside carpet, as he saw the need for another furniture store in Bairnsdale. As the business grew, Rodney's wife Margaret joined the store and they expanded the building, developing the two blocks of land next door.
As the business gained its reputation, Websters stopped selling carpet and focused solely on furniture. Not long after, Rod and Marg's son Simon joined the business as Manager in 1993.
In 2013, Simon purchased the business, where he now runs it alongside his wife Lisa. They started incorporating a large range of homewares such as cushions, lamps and artwork to compliment the furniture range. They now also offer an interior styling service to help their customers find the perfect pieces to compliment their homes.
Websters is currently one of the leading furniture stores in East Gippsland and prides itself on it's commitment to its customers through the large range of furniture and homewares it offers and the high level of customer service it maintains.
